Your Role
As Junior Fabrication Engineer, you will contribute to the development of reliable, error-protected quantum processors. Working under the guidance of our senior fabrication engineers, you will execute and help refine cleanroom fabrication workflows, building hands-on expertise in turning proprietary QPU architectures into functioning hardware.
Joining Peak Quantum at this early stage means a steep learning curve and direct exposure to cutting-edge quantum hardware development. You will gain first-hand experience with state-of-the-art fabrication methods and tools, supported by close mentoring from experienced colleagues. As you grow, so will your responsibilities – with a clear path toward becoming a full R&D Fabrication Engineer.
What You’ll Do
- Execute and help optimize fabrication processes for high-coherence superconducting circuits and novel error-protected qubit designs, including lithography, deposition, etching, and in-line characterization.
- Support process stability and yield improvement efforts through careful execution, systematic data collection, and analysis.
- Assist in adapting experimental fabrication techniques for deployment in a highly controlled cleanroom environment.
- Collaborate with design, measurement, and system-integration teams to ensure seamless device progression from wafer to testbed.
- Document and analyse results, using structured feedback loops and data to drive continuous improvement.
Who You Are
- You hold a Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field. A Bachelor’s with strong relevant experience may also be considered.
- You have approximately 1–2 years of experience (including thesis work) with cleanroom fabrication of superconducting circuits or cryogenic devices, whether in an academic or industry setting.
- You are comfortable handling solvents, acids, and gases, and follow strict cleanroom and safety procedures.
- You are familiar with nanofabrication techniques and tools such as e-beam or optical lithography, thin-film deposition (PVD/sputtering), dry and wet etches, and lift-off.
- You are methodical, precise, and data-driven. You understand the importance of process control and careful documentation.
- You are eager to learn, receptive to feedback, and motivated to develop into a specialist in quantum hardware fabrication.
- You thrive in collaborative, fast-paced R&D environments where experimentation is expected and rapid learning is celebrated.
- You are fluent in English (written and spoken).
